Strange problem with jack plate on stratocaster

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you had experienced that when you are screwing the jack plate on after you have wired up your diagram and everything seems to work that the guitar goes completely silent when the jack plate is put on ? and when you loosen the jack plate everything starts working again

I checked out the soldering on the jack output and they seem to be good

Re: Strange problem with jack plate on stratocaster

Sounds like the end of the jack plug is touching something that's grounded.

Re: Strange problem with jack plate on stratocaster

do you have conductive paint in your jackplate's hole?
Have those soldered wires a considerable naked length? (Move them laterally, can they accidentally enter in contact with some metallic part?).

Re: Strange problem with jack plate on stratocaster

not conductive paint but it does have Conductive Copper Tape, but the wires do not have any naked lenght.Could the tape be my problem here ?

Re: Strange problem with jack plate on stratocaster

It could if the tip contact for the socket is some how coming into contact with the foil.

Re: Strange problem with jack plate on stratocaster

Insulate the hot wire/lug with electrical tape to make sure it doesn't touch the ground sleeve or something else that is grounded like the plate.
