Strange Switch Problem

So today I decided I was going to rewire my Gretsch, I took out the tone pot and put a switch to split the bridge pickup. The only problem is now my switch isn't working. I know the pot and pickups are fine because they work when I connect the pickups straight to the jack, or straight to the volume pot. The switch is a Gibson style 3-way. If I connect the pickup leads to where they are supposed to be on the switch, I only get hum from the pickups. But as I mentioned before, if I touch the leads to the volume pot lug, or the jack the pickups work fine. Also, if I touch the leads to the lug on the switch that connects to the volume pot, while the switch is connected to the volume pot, the pickups work. I know my wiring is correct, and I've redone my ground wires and connections numerous times. Is my switch toast, or does this sound more like a grounding issue?

Re: Strange Switch Problem

So I bought a new switch, redid the ground for the switch, and I get sound with the pickups alone, but any time I touch the metal washer on the top of the switch the pickup buzzes like crazy, and I'm getting no sound when I tap the pickups in the middle position, any suggestions?

Re: Strange Switch Problem

Do you have a multi meter to test your connections?

If the switch is buzzing when you touch it, I would think there was a grounding issue.

Do you have all your grounds connected?

Re: Strange Switch Problem

I figured out the issue, it turns out the wiring diagram I was using had the ground and switch output to volume pot switched around, I felt like an idiot after that one, lol.
