It's weird to me how objectively my worst guitar, an Affinity Telecaster body that I've stripped and stained, paired with a no-name Strat neck, with Wilkinson hardware and Artec pickups, is the one that's inspired me to play the most.

As far as sound it's a 7/10, playability 7/10, and aesthetically it's a 5/10

I have better instruments, but I've been playing this one the most for a long time now.

Yuppers. My <$100 flea-market Peavey Rockmaster, (Hipshot clone, and GFS Dream 180), is one of my most played guitars. 7/8's scale body, but full 25.5" scale length.

I gravitate to the beaters in the house

I think its so I dont wear out the frets on the nicer ones

but I am just a low rent type of guy

the less expensive ones seem more like home
I am always afraid I will get a ding or something on the nice ones

I had a beat up Squier Bullet Mustang HH I got for free with an amp I bought and I found myself grabbing it quite often without thinking about it, even though it wasn't even close to being my best looking, feeling, sounding, or playing guitar. There was just something about its lightweight build, simple controls, and the fact it was already plenty "broken in" that made me gravitate toward it when inspiration struck, even though it was pretty much a P.O.S. I wouldn't use it for recording or anything, but for noodling and hashing out ideas, it was great.

My $200 (before mods) MIM Tele lives in the basement, love that little oddball beast. Like others have said some guitars just beg you to pick them up.

I have a Squier Bullet Jazz Bass, and I love playing it. It sounds good, too, but the pickups hum like crazy. I might do something stupid like get quieter pickups that cost more than the bass.
