Strat: A2P or Antiquity II?

I have a set neck ash strat. It sounded harsh with the stock Lace Sensor Golds. I put in an Antiquity Texas Custom Bridge and a Texas hot neck. Now it sounds smoother and good, but too mid-rangey without enough highs. I like the Antiquity II's I have in another Strat (Korina chambered Warmoth) better for the highs and for the touch and feel of the A5 magnets. But my favorite sound is an AP2H neck Humbucker in an alder strat.

THE QUESTION:

What should I replace the Texas Hots in the Ash set neck strat with:

1. Antiquity II's or;
2. Aps-2'S;
3. Something else?

One consideration is the Antiquity II has a custom higher output bridge which I like, and I don't know if the APS-2 bridge will sound to thin in comparison. Another is that the Antiquity II's sound good in a chambered Korina Strat which is dark sounding, and they may be too bright in an Ash Strat.

Thanks :)

Yep I have to agree. That thread, and also the Tele one, are chock-a-block with mounds of extremely useful information from those in the know.

Thanks, I did read that thread. It did not talk about the A2P's at all, and my question is should I go with the A2P's or the Surfer Ant II's or maybe even the 5-2's? The Ant-1's I have in the bridge and neck are too middy with not enough highs in that guitar.

I am leaning Surfer Ant II Custom bridge and A2P neck.

I agree 100% with your assessment of the Texas Hots. I love the Texas Hot bridge pickup but find the neck and middle lack the highs and sparkle of a true vintage Strat pickup.

I use the Ant I Texas Hot Custom Bridge pickup with a pair of Antiquity II Surfers as the neck and middle pickups and it is my VERY FAVORITE set of Seymour Duncan Strat pickups.

I've got 'em if you need 'em
