STRAT: Ant II Surfer Neck / SSL-1 middle. Thoughts?

Greetings!

I have an MIJ 58 Reissue strat and I'm looking into changing the neck and middle, which are stock. I already have a Little 59 for the bridge but I have yet to put it in there. Has anyone had experience with the Ant II Surfer in the neck and the SSL-1 in the middle? How do you think this combo would fare? I play a wide variety of music on my strat, but if I had to pin it down to five sonic references, they would be:

1. Pearl Jam / Mike McCready
2. John Mayer's "Where the Light Is" live album
3. Nile Rodgers
4. Incubus / Mike Einziger
5. Strat and chorus driven 80's pop

Any reason why you are looking to do Surfer/SSL-1 as opposed to dual Surfer?

Main reason would be to keep the price down (The $25-30 extra for a Surfer is a lot). Would the difference be that big as opposed to having a Surfer in the middle? I'm going for bright quack positions.

just get a pair of ssl1's. the surfers are great but if money matters and you dont want to get a pair of surfers, the ssl1's are great sounding pups. the surfers are darker and more complex sounding. i havent matched the ssl1 with a surfer in the same guitar that i can recall but if it were me id do a pair of one or the other and not mix.
