Strat bridge pup no tone control

I bought a mexi strat in 2005 w original pups. Then changed them for n & m-classic stak-plus and b-lil 59. I used the same wiring, but have no tone control for the lil 59. This is the way it came, stock w original pups--no tone control for bridge pup, so I figured it was okay. Is this standard for strats, or not? How do I wire to get tone control for the bridge lil 59?

Re: Strat bridge pup no tone control

Common scenario, but easy fix. Just move one wire

You jump the terminals for middle and bridge or just bridge.

Yup it's standard. That's actually why that HSS Strats work so well electrically, you don't have to worry about any of the potentiometer values not being friendly to your particular pickups.

What I'd recommend is to have the neck and middle on the same tone control and the bridge on it's own, since it is so different tonally from the single coils. You do that by taking the middle diagram Ayrton posted and connecting the two lugs farthest to the left on the bottom row.

It is standard, but probably about half of the people end up changing it with one of the above diagrams. I like a tone on the bridge, too. I also like the middle position to be the neck + bridge pickups, but you can't get that with a standard switch. I never use the middle pickup alone.

I don't know how I wired this, I think it was according to the classic stak diagram, but maybe not. In any case your diagrams will sure help.

I like the idea of having the bridge pup 'lil 59' by itself--it sounds great. As it is now, both the middle and neck use separate tone conrols. Being that these are not single coil but hummers, I don't know if the tone would be compromised so much, maybe. I guess the only way to know is give it a try.
