Strat Guys, Need Your Advice !!!

I am going to sell a Strat. I'd like the Strat Guys on the Forum to chime in with their advice.

The 2 Strats I'm considering selling are:
1. 1991 American Standard, Butterscotch in color, White pickguard, Maple neck
2. 1984 American Strat, Black w/ white pickguard, Maple neck ( looks like " Blackie " )

Both Strats are pretty much Mint, and come with Hardshell case.

I'm selling because I am Mainly a Les Paul guy ( I have several ),
AND
I have FIVE American Strats.( no way I need this many Strats lol. )

Both of these Strats Play, Sound, and Look Great.

So,...which one should I sell, and why???

I'm not a strat guy, so take me with a grain of salt.

Black w/ white pickguard, maple neck, looks sweet - I'd keep that :P

The years are relatively close so it doesn't matter? What do YOU prefer playing?

I'd love to be in your position. So many damn guitars...

Hey paul, I think that you should sell your 91, because I think 84 is the year after the Smith strats and could become a bit more collectable later on? I'm not sure on the Smith year though, because it could be 82.

Keep the 84, older is allways better, plus the black one has that Clapton vibe to it. Ya know.

Which one sings to you - and I really mean sing to you. If you could do a blind test and play them could you tell the difference? I would then keep that one that sings for you. If it is difficult to distinguish then it is going to be a matter of choice.

I suspect that the '84 strat (despite its age) is probably not so hot. Fenders did not have a very good time during the late seventies and early '80's and if it was me I would get rid of that one because there are some people who would pay more purely because of the age. The '91 may not get you very much and is probably the better guitar but no doubt you will have checked out typical prices on e-bay.

Whichever way good luck and perhaps post the one you don't want in the Trading room before you go on e-bay?.

83 was the year for the Smith strat. I see 84's go for a pretty penny on the Fender Forum, but thats only if they're mint. If not, price goes down a ton. I'd sell the 91, because you'll probably find someone willing to take it in an unmint condition.

I already IMd Rob about it...Told him the 91 may have been the better one to sell..Has the Duncans as a selling point also...Actually he's talking to the wrong guy about selling...I don't sell any guitars.I Just keep adding more to my collection! :smack: :dance:

Here's what I think...for what it's worth. I've owned 2 USA strats to date.

If it's about getting the most $$ out of a sale right now, sell the 91'. If it's about keeping the best guitar then keep the 91'. Either way, the 91' is the better guitar. Translucent finishes always seem to be in higher demand, and fetch a prettier penny. Black strat's are a dime a dozen.

That's what I was thinking (Scarry thought for you Huh) :laugh2: I just thought I would lay back and let the experts chime in.

Hold, Your a Paul guy and you have Five american Strats.. HOW MANY PAUL DO YOU HAVE THEN?!?!?!
