Strat Hum and Single - Need Single Advice

I have an American Strat that is currently HSS with 1 Tone and 1 Volume

In the Bridge is a DD (TB6) , in the middle and neck currently are Fender Noiseless

I am removing the Middle and my 5 way to go to a 3 way and just a hum and single in the neck

Been looking at various SD neck pups and wondering what anyone would recommend to have a more classic tone in the neck. I like the TB-6 in the bridge for crunch

I would love to drop the tone control but the more I research it's difficult to do with a hum and a single because of resistance needs of them both being different

Thanks in Advance

Are you looking for a classic Strat sound in the neck? Do you want noiseless pickups? How important is volume balance between the 2 pickups?

Volume balance is a secondary issue, to be honest, the real reason I want to replace the noiseless is twofold
  • I am ditching the middle
  • I want a different color than the current white
  • The translation on wiring colors bothers me when using SD drawings so I will stick with SD pups

the classic stack+ is a great pup! there will be a big volume difference between that and the distortion in the bridge. not really an issue, just something to be aware of.

Pardon while I meander a bit off topic, but the Parallel Axis Stack would be sweet with one of the PATB humbuckers in an HS Strat.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

This issue can be solved with resistors in parallel with the pickups, FWIW. It has downsides (regarding the taper of pots) but it works.

Yes, read something early this week from another site about this type of set up.

Already ordered a new pickguard with 2 tones and no middle pickup so I'll leave it for now..

I did order the Classic Stack Plus to go in the neck. Just waiting for everything to arrive

Cool! Let us know how this project turns out!

So this would be the proper wiring for the combination I am looking for???

Hey Folks got the pups in yesterday and plan to install the Classic Stack Plus

But looking at the wiring diagram I referenced the Classic Stack Plus wires are White, Red, Black and a ground

The patterns are different.

Any guide on wiring this single coil up?

Called Seymour and for the cl;assic Stack Plus

Chris stated

Red taped off (attach to nothing)

Black and Bare go to ground

White is hot and goes to switch

yes, thats correct. the red wire is the series link so unless you want to split the coils (i wouldnt bother) then just insulate it so it doesnt make contact with anything.

So I thought I had the right caps to put this back together. I only have a .022uf

I am guessing I should go with the .47uf
