I know that a strat neck will fit a Telecaster neck socket but i'm wondering how much of a gap will there be?

I'm hoping somebody here has some experience with this.

please help me out.
thanks

Re: Strat neck on Telecaster?

A Tele neck has a flat end and the Strat has a rounded end. They're not easily interchangeable.

I *think* the strat neck will fit into the tele neck pocket, but there will be a gap unless it's a 22 fret strat neck.

What Lew said and you can check it out at Warmoth Neck FAQ

In the FAQ Warmoth states:
"The heel shape of Strat® necks is rounded at the end, Teles® are squared. Strat® necks will fit Tele® bodies but show a gap at the corners. Tele® necks may not intonate on a Strat® body without neck pocket modification. "

Thanks!

One thing I'm fairly certain of is that you can get away with a little gap on either side of the neck but not at the end. If you have a gap between the end of the neck and the neck pocket your tone is going to suffer. I have a feeling THAT is an important point of energy transfer in a Strat or Tele and having a gap there will make for a less resonant tone. Seems like I read something from George Fullerton saying something similar. George was one of Leo's right hand men and is the "G" in G&L guitars.
