strat pickguard question - will trembuckers drop into the 3-hole mount

I never thought I'd be so confused finding an HSS pickguard. The single coil days were heady times..

This is what I don't get: Will a black winter trembucker drop straight into a Fender pickguard - the kind that have 2 holes one side, 1 hole the other?

The normal black winter has 2 mounting holes, but the trembucker seems to be ready to rock in the fender pickguard:

Am I right or wrong?

Centre hole only has thread. Fender holes are wider. You'll need the typical 1-screw-hole-per-side pickguard

Yes & no? The holes on the outside of the 3 per side mounts are not tapped to take the mounting gear, you can drill & tap the ones on the top of the pickup so it will take 2 screws instead of just 1 but even if you do this the holes are not spaced the same as a Fender Diamondback so they will sit a bit funny but you will be able to tilt the pickup & as far as the screws go, the way they sit is hardly noticeable? That said, I'd just get a new guard with one hole per side, they are cheap enough, probably about what you'll spend on the bits to drill & tap the pickup & it will be a simple install? Or if you don't mind the empty holes you can just drill a center hole in the guard you already have? If the empty holes do bother you just snip the tops off some screws & glue them in place, it will look like there's 3 screws up top but in actuality only one of them will actually be doing something, the other 2 will just be for looks???

One other thing, if you drill the untapped holes on a bit of an angle you can actually tap them with the mounting screws, just use a bit a little smaller than the screw your going to be useing & push hard while turning the screws in....
