Re: Strat Style Input Jack
The jack socket of a typical Stratocaster is the same as any other mono jack. One connection runs between the tip contact and the output leg of the volume pot. A second connections between the sleeve contact and a grounding point on the guitar controls (usually a pot chassis).
Traditional Fender guitars employed two "push back" cloth covered single conductor cables. Some modern instruments employ co-axial twin with heavy plastic insulation. Single conductor and braided shield cable would work provided that
1) The cable will pass through the drilled hole between the control and jack plate routs.
2) The braided shielding does not short out against any other metal parts in the control cavity.
