strat switchin question

on a H/S/S style strat, is the second switch postion the bucker and the single coil? or is it a tapper bucker and the single coil?

Its usually tapper bucker and the single coil, but you could get wiring done so it would do the bucker and single coil. I think doing this requires a special 5 way switch.

Either option can be wired using a standard 5-way. No need for anything special.
