Strat Wiring Harness Re-Do

Hey everybody, I have a conundrum that I cannot seem to solve. I have a kit stratocaster that my dad and I built over a long period of time and I plan on changing out the whole wiring harness in it. So my problem is that I plan on starting a band that will be playing punk rock music like Green Day and writing some originals, but with most SSS strats I have played I cannot seem to get the tone I want. Currently my guitar has a SSS configuration and I would like to keep it that way if possible. So what pickups would be ideal for this and what pots do you recommend? I would suspect 500k pots would be better for this purpose than 250k but that's just an assumption. My goal is to get a nice crunch with just guitar straight to amp with tone and volume adjustments before I plug it in with effects.
