Stratocaster 7 Tone Push/Pull Configuration Question

I'm looking to wire my Strat to a 7 tone configuration with a push/pull (actually a push/push) to add the neck pickup to positions 1 & 2. From the diagrams I've seen, they all have the push/pull pot for the volume pot. Is there a way to wire it so the push/pull pot is on Tone 2?

I'm attaching a diagram of my current wiring (independent tone controls, hot rails for a bridge pickup - this diagram doesn't have the hot rails pictured). I ask as the volume knob is already in the way on a strat and I don't want it sticking up even more. I have tried a blend knob before, but I wasn't a fan of a master tone. I've thought about a mini toggle, but I don't want to drill new holes. I'm using the independent tone controls so the hot rails bridge has a different cap value (0.15uf) compared to the single coils (0.22uf).

Is this wiring possible?

Re: Stratocaster 7 Tone Push/Pull Configuration Question

You absolutely can have a push-pull tone pot if you want. The push-pull tone pot on my Strat activates the output tap on my bridge pickup.

What you may want to consider instead is switching to a master tone and blend pot. I have my Strat set up that way and I prefer to blend a small amount of neck & bridge together instead of having both pickups full-on.

This is my preferred wiring for a Strat, Stewmac stock the perfect Bourns blend pot for this,

BUT, if you want the separate tone pots you still can activate the neck in positions 1 and 2
with the push/push switch being one of the tone pots.

Remember the switch is independent of the pot and as long as all the wires that enter and exit it
go to their respective ends, all is OK.

Re: Stratocaster 7 Tone Push/Pull Configuration Question

The G&L S-500 and Comanche use a mini-switch in conjunction with the 5-way to add the combinations of all pickups, and neck+bridge. Leo's PTB tone system gives the most control of strat tones.

They have a schematic for this switching in the Gallery page of the G&L Forum. www.guitarsbyleo.com

Hope that helps.
