Stratocaster Wiring Problem

i have a MIM stratocaster and besides the scratchy pots which someday i will fix, when i play it thru my amp it cuts out periodiclly about a second. i opened up the input jack and all the solders look good to me, its not my cable cause it wont cut out when i play my other guitars. my question is could this be the problem with the pots?, they are scratchy BTW. or is this might be a problem with the pups which i highly doubt.

Re: Stratocaster Wiring Problem

sounds more like a wiring problem than pots but it is possible? shoot some contact cleaner in the pots and see if the problem goes away, if it does it was the pots. im assuming that will cure the scratchy pots but probably not the intermitent output, thats probably a bad connection or bad wire

Re: Stratocaster Wiring Problem

does it go completely out or can you hear it very faintly? You might want to check all the ground connections, it sounds like something is just making contact and every once in a while it won't make contact and then you lose your sound.

goes out completely for just a second then comes back, even when im not moving it around. i was just thinking, its my strat with the trem cover off maybe my metal belt touching the trem spring claw is making it do that? since thats where its grounded to? possibly?
