Strattish Delight

HI!

We've just moved into our new flat so I've been taking the guitars out of their cases and the rest of the equipment out of the boxes. My aching hands have been engaged in some heavy manual work (for me :approve: ) so I just decided to noodle on the strat with a clean setting (whats the hell is that?! :laugh2: ) Eventually I got into the groove and recorded a reasonable take which I thought I'd share (some mistakes but imperfect makes it "human" ;) :

Fernandes early 80's strat with 1982 Fender pickups. Engl Screamer (clean channel) with Banzai OD.

Re: Strattish Delight

Just listened to it, everythings amazing, the playing, sonic atmosphere( whatever that is :) ) the picking style and the sound, awe inspiring. I am more of a heavy drive guy but i must say something...for the past few days after just a small mod to my RG i started playing with just the middle single coil(the only single in the guitar)with very little overdrive and i found myself feeling every note i play, it felt like there's always been this side to me:). I hope i'm making any sense at all...the clip was really good, hope to hear some more soon:)

Re: Strattish Delight

Man, when I heard that opening lick, I was like, "Oh man, this is gonna be another Marin masterpiece!" I was right ;)

Re: Strattish Delight

Great tune. Who says we need a ton of overdrive? You just proved we don't!

Re: Strattish Delight

hello marin ... incredible use of tone and space as always .. very emotionally evocative .. your phrasing is impeccable and demonstrates how the space between the notes is as much a part of the music as the notes themselves

thanks for sharing it
cheers

Thanks. This is a first recording after weeks. It is interesting how guitar abstinence affects ones style. I feel that it leaves the player with "fresh mind" and new things come out. Unfortunetaly, at the same time the technique suffers....

Thanks Nuntius, Biu, StrangeSound, Al.C, Tone4days. :)

this is my first recording in my new flat. the room is still empty so there is a lot of "reverb". Initially, the amp sounded real bad. However, the mike picks up the same sound as before.

Luckily.....:D

very true. i actually think the technique improves because you leave your old ways which you might think you get good at and it opens you up. find that with me at least.

Re: Strattish Delight

Wow, when you come back after a while, you just gotta listen to a Marin clip... awesome. Tone, playing, atmosphere, emotion... everybody wants to play like that. Great Marin! Keep on posting... this is better than listening to a commercial CD.
