Re: String gauge, different tuning question
10, 13.5, 17, 28, 38, 52 is my bomb main set for my strats in D standard.
I'm almost right there withya lol. That is just a great compromise between tension and slack.
At 25.5" or 25" either one I'm at;
10.5, 14, 20w, 30, 40, 52,,,,,,,,,,,,be it Boomers or Balls.
EB use hex-cores like most other brands, so people would naturally assume them to feel stiffer than the Boomers with their round-cores,,,,but GHS bumps-up the core-size slightly (even on the standard classic Boomers) to make up for the fact that round-cores are more flexible.
The final result ends-up with the Boomers feeling a very-wii-bit tighter than the Ernie Balls of the same gauges, although it's not quite enough difference to warrant different gauge sizes,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, for me anyways.
It almost balances-out perfectly.
