String gauge problem

Here goes the problem : I'm setting up both of my guitars to work out a few complete albums, one guitar is already tuned to D standard with Elixir 10-52 strings.

The other one will be tuned to C# standard and I want a similar tension. Both guitars have a 25,5 inch scale and a Floyd Rose bridge. I was thinking of some strings that would start on 11. Elixir only makes 11-49, which doesn't make sense because I need lower strings a bit thicker than 52, probably 54 or 56.

The reason I wanted Elixir strings is this : my sweat is corrosive as hell, and unprotected strings (like Ernie Ball for example) last only a couple weeks before they're all rusty. So, if anyone knows any other brand making such protected (coated ?) strings at 11-54 or 11-56 gauge, tell me please !

Re: String gauge problem

How about Ernie Ball 11-54 coated set? The plain 3rd is a bit thick but otherwise a great set.

Re: String gauge problem

C# is a tough tuning to get strings for, you're pretty much limited to the EB coated 11-54 if you gotta have coated. The 3rd string is stupid large, but not as bad as in the 12-56 set, which is unuseable. Cleartone makes an 11-58 or something with really odd gauges. You could try the D'Ad XL 11-56 or 12-54 and see if they corrode on you, some people don't have problems with different brands.

TI makes the 11-53 power brights, which are brass coated, which I need to try still, which are $15 a set, which is why I haven't tried them.

Re: String gauge problem

Note: the T-I Power Brights are great strings. They're a little pricey but will probably outlast other strings. I use nothing but Thomastiks on all my guitars.
