String Labels

hello all. i'm a new member to this site and look fwd to spending some time here.

and now i have a request:

well, this will no doubt sound pretty wonky to some , buuuuut...

i've been wallpapering my music room with string labels...the colorful "cover letter" that you find within the clear plastic pouch that is wrapped around the individual string envelopes.

whew, i hope that makes some sense!

anyway...though i've been saving these labels for a very long time, i'm gonna come up way short.....so i'm making a desperate plea for assistance!

if you'd be so kind as to save and send me your un-needed labels i'd be greatly, greatly appreciative.

i have no need for the plastic envelope, or the individual paper envelopes...just the actual colorful string label that advertises the brand and particular set.

and it doesn't necessarily have to be gtr string labels...mando, bass, banjo, uke, dulcimer, etc....ALL GOOD!

anyone actually able and willing to help me out....perhaps you can PM me for my mailing address.

thanks so much in advance.....btw, i'd be happy to reimburse shipping costs.

Re: String Labels

Hi and welcome to the forum!

That sounds like a fun project to do for your own room, and if I had saved any of my string labels I would send them to you. Are you using D'Addario-style packaging too, or just the sheets that come in Ernie Ball packs?

Re: String Labels

hello metalman.

thanks for the welcome and reply.

i am using both the thinner paper (cover label) that you find inside the plastic envelope AND the cardboard box style containers as well.

Re: String Labels

gotta give a shout-out and heartfelt thanks to Steve at Rotosound for that batch he kindly sent my way!

well, i've got one wall completely done at this point and if i say so myself....it's looking gooooood!

one down, three to go.

Re: String Labels

hi! Welcome to the board! Ill see if I can find some. I had a bunch and sent them in for a T shirt, but come to think of it, never got the $%#$@!%#! thing... But been saving more since.. But I just moved, so will have to try and find em..

Re: String Labels

I have quite a few you are more than welcome to have, but about half of them have writting on them cause I would write the date I changed strings on the label to keep track how long I had them on my guitar. Can you use the ones with writting or do you just want me to send you the ones without?

Re: String Labels

hey there gtrkid....wow a fellow missourian, yowzah!

writing is fine...i'll take whatever i can get! and thanks. gonna pm you my address.

Re: String Labels

I remember back in the 80s I used to play Kaman strings. I would buy in bulk since I used them on five different guitars. And over a couple of years, I never threw away the insert and the plastic cover. I amassed around 50...

After a couple years, Kaman came out with a line of pedals that were Boss knock-offs. They had a promotion that if you sent them 10 wrappers from Kaman strings, you would receive a free pedal of your choice. I jumped on this offer immediately and received five free pedals right away. I bet Kaman wasn't expecting that!

Alas, the pedals mostly were worth about as much as I paid for them. The phaser and analog delay were sort of okay, but the rest weren't very good. I can't remember what I ended up doing with them, I may have traded all of them for a TS10 or something...

Re: String Labels

I buy my strings a couple cases at a time. So I got a few labels, but you ain't gettin' any til I see pics.

Re: String Labels

I don't actually know what you mean by labels. I only ever use D'addarios and I have a few packs of Ernie Balls lying around. Do you mean the exterior cardboard envelope with the brand name and barcode and stuff on it or the paper sleeve that the individual strings are wrapped in?

Mostly just out of curiosity anyway; I think I'm a little too far away to be of any help to you.
