String Lub

I'm curious, after seeing other threads about long lasting strings and such, how many people use some type of string lub on their guitar strings. There is the kind that comes in the can and also the GHS Fast Fret too.

I bought the spray stuff years ago and never used it but recently I've begun to apply it to my strings frequently and to my surprise it works great. They play great and seem to not get as much junk build up.

Do many people actually use this type of stuff?

my only complaint with the spray lub is that you can get an overspray on your finish but that can be fixed with the wipe of a rag.

cheers, brandon

Re: String Lub

I use the Big Bend's Nut Sauce on nuts, saddles, string trees, etc. on my G&L, Gibson and Ibanez guitars. Good stuff, just don't overuse.

I also like the Dunlop 65 String Cleaner. My cleaning regimen while using this product gives me great feeling strings, and about as long of life as I could reasonably expect from non-coated strings--on both my electrics and my phosphor-bronze equipped acoustics.

Re: String Lub

I use Fast-Fret. It works great for me, especially as Gibraltar is quite a damp place.

Re: String Lub

I use my own homemade string cleaner that I was told about by a LA guitar tech. It's half 99% Isopropyl Alcohol and half WD 40. I put it on a rag (never directly on the fret board) and clean each string. Works great and the stings always feel smooth and slick and they seem to last longer as well.

Cheers,

CJ
