I want to upgrade the saddles on my Ibanez Gio. It has a hardtail strat style bridge. I measured from E to E at the bridge and it looks like it is a 2 and 3/16's of an inch. Was this the correct way to measure? If my measurement is correct and I'm looking for new saddles should I also convert it into millimeter's since some sellers give that as the measurement?
Also if I wanted to just buy a new bridge with saddles, the bridge is roughly 3" wide and 1 & 5/8ths high
Sorry if any of these are dumb questions, but I just want to be sure.
I'm saving up for a better amp, but want to do some upgrades to the Gio that don't require much money. I'm looking at this as an opportunity to practice modding guitars, be able to troubleshoot and fix problems, set the guitar up to my liking before I eventually invest in a better guitar.
The stock staddles aren't the worst, but I'd like to replace them with something a little better quality and use it as an opportunity to practice setting the action and intonation.
New tuners, pickups and pots are also on the upgrade list, but since this is as much about a learning as it is as making the best of what I got
guitarwise I'm taking my time.
As much as I love to stay up late surfing the web looking at guitar porn and salivating over American Deluxe strats, Fuzz Pedals, (Michael Kelly's new line of strats and his tele's give me GAS so bad it hurts!) I feel like focusing on actually playing and learning to mod and maintain my gear is
time better spent
