i swear i could find this gauge profile all the time back in the day. nowadays not so much. is it just me? or perhaps it's an 11 or 12-52?

Re: strings 10-52?

I used to use the Ernie Ball ones. Seriously doubt they got rid of them.

Re: strings 10-52?

They still make them. They're usually found under the name "Light-top Heavy-bottom"

Re: strings 10-52?

EB, Dad, DR, and Dunlop all make a 10-52 set. You may have to check out each website to find them and order them online. I'd suggest somewhere like juststrings.com

Re: strings 10-52?

I use them (Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottom) on one of my Les Paul's, it goes between anything from standard to drop b! Haven't got space/money for a backup for my main band guitar or teaching guitars in dedicated tunings so this will be the 'jack-of-all-trades' utility one! D'addario do something similar I think.

Re: strings 10-52?

They are on all but one of my guitars. Just ask your store to bring some in or buy a box of 10 from them.

Re: strings 10-52?

I'm really surprised any stores don't stock them. They've been extremely popular since I started playing in the early 90's.

Re: strings 10-52?

no ****. d'addario is my brand but my main shop doesn't have that gauge.

As stated above, ask them to stock them, and pay for a few sets up front. The guy at my local shop will order me any quantity of any product from any of their brands.

Re: strings 10-52?

These are "Light Top/Heavy Bottom" sets and they're still pretty common. A Google Shopping search for "10-52 Strings" returns hits for just about every string manufacturer you can think of. Elixir was absent at first, but a direct search for that brand yields a hit as well.

i should just buy it online. it's funny because back when i was a kid playing on a cheap guitar i would break strings all the time. i would even buy single strings at a premium. now i never break strings. i change them because of rust or gunk buildup. at that point they keep in tune so well...so ironic.

Re: strings 10-52?

I use D'Addario 10-46 Nickel wound. I tried Ernie Ball Nickel wound but didn't care for them. I will be staying with D'Addario as my #1 choice from now on.
