Strings for Drop A? 13-70 cleartones?

So i am currently running d'addario 12-60s in drop C... i like them, but i find them to a be a tiny bit heavy, more so on the high strings, the low strings are pretty good... I will be downtuning to Drop A soon, and i want some string that will last a good long time... and that sound nice and bright and clear for metal... naturally, ive been recommended cleartone ALOT. Just wondering which set i should go with... i figured the 13-70 would be good on the higher strings, make a bit easier to bend... oh and another thing, my guitar is a short scale guitar (24.75)

I've played in B standard with 13-56 Daddarios on a V. You should be alright as far as string gauge goes.

I'm assuming you mean the Monster series? I think those strings are a joke. Those sets run way too heavy for the tuning on the package, unless you're using a 24 3/4 scale. Also, the thick core they use make them even stiffer than a regular string of the same gauge and make the tone from them not crunchy or tight. At least to my ears. I didn't like them.

well the string set im getting is recommended for drop c and im playing drop A lol

well i will get it setup properly with a slightly higher action... and thicker strings. I play in C with the same guitar, and my action is sorta standard, not super low, not super high, and have 12-60 strings on it, it works very well

I had one of the first run Schecter CB-2000s with a 74 on the low A. That's damned thick.

These days I play in open B with 56-13 and it feels fine. (25.5" scale Strat neck.)

Yeah, that's excessive. Look into La Bella HRS, the drop six sets have goofy gauges, but the seven string sets are nice. HRS-72 and HRS-73 are what you're looking for.

D'Addario has 13-62 and 14-68 sets that aren't bad, and either will work fine for that tuning, but the La Bellas are nicer strings.

Nearly everything else I've found either has stupid gauges (DR DDT) or just sucks.

Your guitar will need nut work and a truss rod adjustment.

And Ace, **** off.
