I wanted to say thank you to everybody who helped me with my questions about my studio 15 in my other posts. And I thought I'd share what the Marshall guy found because it's probably atypical as far as what you'd expect from an amp I bought 31 yrs ago that I'd never serviced (the problem was the sound fading in and out occasionally). So all he found was the two 12AX7 preamp tubes were slightly out of specs, but nothing else. He said the 6V6's were beautiful and perfectly biased. And the filter caps were in perfect condition - no swelling, no leaking - and all voltage and current tests within/across the caps, power tubes, plate/chassis were top shape. He commented that the filter caps used back then were extremely high quality and lasted a long time unlike the ones Marshall is using today. He's been an authorized Marshall service center since '80 or so and said he'd never seen amp that old in such mint condition requiring virtually no service. So I plugged one of my strats straight in to the front with no effects, plugged the speaker cable in the attenuated output, put the gain & level on 10, and that frickah sounded suhWeet !
Thanks for the help.
