Stuff I'm working on...

Re: Stuff I'm working on...

Good idea. It needs to go some where about where you faded out otherwise itś getting dull by there.
A bit of bass would help it too.:14:

Re: Stuff I'm working on...

yeah, we're still writing this song. In fact, we got a chance to jam it out last night, and I'm going to re-record it with the ideas we came up with.

Unfortunately though, I haven't got a bass guitar :(

Will have to borrow one maybe

Thanks for listening!

Re: Stuff I'm working on...

I still like it, and I stil wish it had a bass in it. It would just make it work all that much better.:1:

I figured I like it because I spent years playing around with 3/4 - 6/8 variations and bastardisations. If you're interested, there are two tracks on my MySpace site that are the result of some of that. " One in a Million " and
" Heaven or Hell " are the tracks. Both done with the same timing, a bastardisation of 6/8. This is early 80's stuff [ evolved from the 70's ] so the style is different to yours but the core of it has similarities.

I started playing with lots of 3/4 - 6/8 back around 73/74 mainly because 95% of music was in 4/4 and it was getting awfully repetitive and boring.
I figured I'd go exploring.:14:

Re: Stuff I'm working on...

if i may, i'd like to suggest using a wah for the first 50-odd seconds of the 1st clip, and ending that with the same type of fade-out as used in the second clip.

the riffage at the start of the second clip seemed more like an intro to me, if that makes sense; you could use that kind of approach on a different tune

i really like it man, if i wasn't so far away i'd ask about your gigs

Re: Stuff I'm working on...

Vulture, cool stuff man. It reminds me a LOT of this band called Borknagar. They started off as a fairly typical Norwegian black metal band, and evolved to include more experimental prog kinda instrumentation and composition.

dr. ad, hahah I hate using wah :)

Actually, this is the last third of the song. I haven't recorded the preceding 5 minutes of the song simply because we've already worked out what we want to do and all agreed on it. This end part though...we agreed that we needed to do some homework lol.

As for that "intro" bit you spoke about, it's kind of a segway into the solo section, so it makes sense in the context of the song, if you know what i mean.

Re: Stuff I'm working on...

So, unhappy with my soloing on this track, I have finally decided that it needs some wah, notably on the beginning and end of the solo.

*hangs head in shame*

might record that sometime in the next week. need to retrieve my crybaby from the practice space.

Re: Stuff I'm working on...

I enjoyed that a lot. I kinda put in my own bass and lyrics, something Priestish if you will. Has a "majestic" kind of sound to it at the end. I actually liked the sounds of the guitars on the first one better than the second. Distortion...yeah!

Re: Stuff I'm working on...

Good stuff dude! I'm with 75LP, I was comin' up with my own lyrics too. Keep on rockin'. :headbang:
