Stupid! (Hitting myself in the head...)

My Cliff single-button footswitch arrived today... I was pretty excited because now not only do I have my first all-tube amp, but I can switch channels without touching it! :) Anyway, I plugged it in to the back of the amp only to find that the single button only switches the gain boost on and off. I assumed that since channel switching is very important, that's what the button would switch, but I guess I assumed wrong. Anyway, if anyone knows how to make it so that I can change channels with the footswitch, please help me out. If not, I guess I just wasted 20 bucks. I'll probably have to send it back to Musician's friend if I can't figure out what to do with it. If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks! Peace.

What amp is it for? It sounds like you need a 2-button footswitch.

Sounds like you need a stereo footswitch. Check the amp's company website to be sure.

Oh that sucks... can't you just send it back and get the thing with 2 switches for a little extra $?

Yeah, I need a 2 button footswitch, and I knew all along that both the boost and the channels were footswitchable. I just figured if I got a one button switch, it would control the channel changing and not the boost. I might have to send it back and get the two button switch instead. That's just a pain, though.

By the way, it's a Peavey Valveking 1x12 and Peavey's site sells a 2 button stereo footswitch. I guess I just didn't look into it enough.

Yup, you're gonna need a 2-button. No way around it. The gain boost is hooked up to the tip, channel switching to the ring, and ground for both is the sleeve. May as well pack it up and send it back. Any 2-button footswitch that uses a stereo cable will work.

Yup, you need a TRS-jack wired switch with 2 buttons, not one TS-jack ;).
