I wanted a bit more TIGHTNESS and better note tracking from the CC
https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?t=51433
well i got a Email from a fellow player who told me to just shorten the screw poles so that they are no longer protruding past the baseplate.
man what a improvement!
the CC is more focused and has a touch more scream but is still very warm not icepicky! man the CC is now a shred pup
highly recomended for those who want these improvements from a CC :beerchug:

ODIE before i did the mod i WAS LIKE " YEAH RIGHT! THIS WONT MAKE A DIFFERENCE"
But i had extra screw poles laying around that i cut and gave it a go and i am glad i did!
turns out that neal schon did this to his paf's years ago
cause he swore it made the pup have better highs and articulation
well he was RIGHT! :beerchug:

ERIK dont get mne wrong i love the CC stock but i needed a bit more articulate note to note tracking for the faster 64th note stuff
for the bluesy stuff it was fine stock but for the paul gilbert and yngwie runs
the stock custom ceramic was better but did not have the"sweetness" of the CC
see i like the TONE of the CC a real lot ( real sweet, not at all icepicky ever)
and wished it just had a bit more "fasteness" to it
well it does NOW!

Well, I can't play as fast as Paul or Yngwie anyway. :) When I'm playing Great White stuff, the CC just shines like no other. I sometimes wonder if that is what Mark used on some of the early albums but I can't find any info and he's not in the SD artist database.

I love the slower feel type playing as well and do a real lot of that but i also need to LET RIP and wanted the CC to keep up :beerchug:

Well, that sounds interesting and might be worth a try.
I'm always swapping between a Custom and a CC.
The Custom has more power, but i don't like the tight bass.
The CC is not so tight, but it could have less mids, and a bit more bass and highs.

Dan Torres of Torres Engineering has offered that tip for about the last 10 years or so. He has a lot of other inexpensive ways to hot rod your axe. Check him out @ www.torresengineering.com

Everyone knows I hate the JB. The high 3 strings are fairly decent but, the low 3 are in need of some serious help!!!!! I wonder if I was to cut the screws on the E, A, D, strings if it would tighten up the flab of it and make the JB half useable for me?

just use three hex poles on those strings or go half ceramaic half alnico 5
this will do the JOB :beerchug:

Wicked Lester,

I've heard of this mod before also. Please take us through the process of this mod. What tools/method did you use to cut the poles without affecting the threads? How short did you cut them?

Thanks.

I just sniped the screws with wire cutters to the desired length! :beerchug:
there aint nothing to this mod that is hard but the screws were spares so dont do it to your ONLY set!
it does not strip anything in the bobbin either

Re: Such a easy MOD, BUT WHAT GREAT RESULTS! (CC related)

Anyplace to buy shorter screws? Im afraid Id tear them up trying to mod them
