SUGAR CITY - more old school rockin !!

Bullet Proof Toneologist
I just finished this track and am really happy with how it came out. Basically a big raw rocker, like most of my stuff.... I am useing a mid 60s 20 watt Hilgen head that freaking rocks. Like a little Plexi to my ears. I am getting very VERY close to having my CD done. Just a few more mixes to go.

It´s sugar for my ears!!

I WAAAAAANT MY KEVLAR CD (singing the first Sting-part of "Money for nothing")

Love it! Extremly tight! Formidable tone!

Re: SUGAR CITY - more old school rockin !!

Too Cool as always!!!! The tone is just over the top and the playing is so groovin'-funky...

Kind of like if someone found the missing tracks from Van Halen's Fair Warning album.

Re: SUGAR CITY - more old school rockin !!

Super cool!!

While it has a lot of old school funk underneath I hear a real strong Satch influence on this one as well.

Man I am so psyched all the stuff that is getting prepped for release seems to be going over really well. We'll have to setup an SD Forum Festival Show!

I don't think I've ever been unimpressed by anything you've ever done. This is definitely not an exception either. However, I did miss the phaser.;)

wow Kev .. you just keep outdoing yourself !!!

the tone is enormous and the groove is rock solid, with the perfect touch of 'slip' to keep it human .. the solo has a perfect balance of 'construct' and 'over the top' ... i love the mix ... the drums are sweet too

which guitars on this track?

I always appreciate the feedback Butch.

I am a not so subtle Halen fan and figured this was a good track to pull some of that influence on. ( Blatantly!!)

Man a live show would be crazy fun!! :saeek:

I am not the Satch fan I once was, but I can see where you hear it. Surfing was in heavy rotation in my formative years.

Thanks for checking it out!

Sincere thanks!!

You pick up exactly what I am trying to do. I want it to feel live, tight with a few rough edges. No click tracks, minimal punches ect. It creates a tension that I feel gets lost otherwise. I love it open and over the cliff.

Exactly, see I have this little phrase I say it is very simple W-W-J-D? It is my guiding light... What Would Jolly Do? So simple yet so powerful. :newangel:

Re: SUGAR CITY - more old school rockin !!

I'm late to the party evidently - I don't recall heariing any of your other stuff but I'd like to - that was sweet - I don't know about all the other influences but I hear a dose of Pat Travers (not sure about the spelling). Is he someone you listen(ed) to or is this just by chance. Let us know when the cd is ready - I'll buy.

Re: SUGAR CITY - more old school rockin !!

Hails Man... i can feel some kind of mix between JimmiHendrix, Some Good Old School Funky Music, and rock n roll a lá Led zepellyn flowing into your music . right or wrong?
i liked very much your playing and ... i listened to some other more heavy previous works from you and i liked them too, you have a good taste in tone for both Rhythm and leads.
****ing Hails Kevlar.

Re: SUGAR CITY - more old school rockin !!

All I can say is ... wow. What a fun ride!
I hear a bit of Rush, a bit of Jeff Beck, a bit of EVH ... but all internalized into your own thing; doesn't sound like a derivative copy at all!
Personally, I think this track kicks the ass of most of the stuff on Shrapnel in the 80's. (Joey Taffola, I'm talkin' to you!!!!)
