Suggest me some tight, but not trebly, power tubes.

My tweaker is a bit flabby when pushed hard. I swapped the stock EHX 6v6 tubes for some EHX 6ca7 and they sound bigger but once pushed they become insanely harsh and brittle Also they generate heat like mad.

What's a nice set that will sound a bit more American heavy modern than those 6v6 tubes, firm and strong in the bass without piercing highs?
Oh and hopefully with a lower current draw that won't fry my.amp internals in a year.
Keep in mind I use my tweaker just barely crunchy and get serious dirt from pedals
Any octal tube is OK except the bigger ones, the Tweaker biases itself.

Thanks!

You could try a 6L6 or a KT66/77/88.

The 6L6 is a quintessentially american sound.

The KTs generally sound like their cousins (6L6, el34 and 6550) except more huge, clearer, more hi-fi for lack of a better way of putting it. If I were you, I'd try a 6L6 first though.

The flab is a trait of the amp IME, some tubes may be better than others, but you are band aiding a sympton, not fixing a problem.sounds like you need more headroom for your pedals.

I would try a L6 too, but keep in mind they generally have more treble content and highend clarity than a el34 or 6v6, and they certainly get tubby/farty on the low end when pushed hard.

You probably are best off grabbing a tweaker 40 or something else if funds are available.

Have you tried JJ 6CA7 yet? I haven't tried the EHX 6CA7 but the JJ sounds huge compared to their regular EL34. Seems more durable too, less noisy as well.
