Suggest some amps to me...

Ok, I think I need to get rid of my Mesa F-50. The clean channel is fantastic and the drive channel is, well, a Mesa which is where the problem lies. I don't think I'm really into it, so I need to change.

I'm after either a 1x12 combo or a head which has a hot-rodded Marshall crunch flavour to it and a saturated lead tone. A clean channel would be nice, but is not essential. I have around £1000 - 1200 for it and will buy eother new or second hand. I'm kinda edging towards a Cornford MK50 but does anyone else have any other ideas?

Here's what I've had in the past, so no suggesting these!

Laney VH100R - horrible lead channel
Marshall DSL100H - Buzz city
Soldano Hotrod 50 - err, don't actually know why sold it...
Peavey 5150 - Yuck!

Orange? dunno how good it would be for leads, but it would have a fantastic crunch to it... and im sure if you stuck a pedal in front you could broaden your horizons a wee bit.

if you're wanting a combo, you might wanna check out the new traynor ycv50 that just came out, its pretty cheap too, like $600? i think. its got el-34's which will get you a sound similar to a marshall. i havent tried one yet,only played the ycv40's, which are also awesome amps for the price.

I'm not fussed whether it's a combo or not, and I don't mind paying a few extra £££'s if it gets me what I want i.e. so I'm not repeating this thread 3 months down the line!

Maybe if you can find a good used price on a Bogner... not sure if that would be in your price range or not.

Univox U45-B. Trust me. Non-master volume, mid sixties, sounds like a mini-plexi.

You sold a Soldano Hot Rod??? :smack: On my top five list of my fav. amps!!

Anyway, the Cornford is really good. If you can get hold of one in that price range, don't hesitate!

I wish! Mind you there was a cheap one going on ebay a little while back, but it vanished with about an hour left with a max bid of £600 on. I wonder why......

You don't see many about 2nd-hand and they're a bit pricey new. What about VHT? Anyone tried a 50 CL?
