Yeah, I was thinking something like the Joe Bardens.....now that GFS is basically copying them with the Lil Punchers.
As for HSS strat setups, tremspaced Jazz Bridge. In my HSS strat, I have a Jazz bridge and 2 Surfers and they match up better than anything I've tried. The Jazz B is known as a bright low output humbucker, but it's got a very nice tone overall. Since most strat bridge pickups are very bright, the Jazz works fine because it's never going to be as bright as a single, but it's got the oomph of any good A5 humbucker.....just not the output of a JB or C-5. The poles line up good enough for me. I can't hear any dropout on the E's.
