Well its time to buy a new amp.
I have absolutely had it with my DRRI. I put a G12H-30 in it about a year ago and it sounded great for a while. But not too long ago a tube socket shorted out, blew somes tubes, and IMO fried some of the guts on the PCB too. It sounds anemic now, I mean really pathetic. The fender "certified" technician @ my store is just not taking care of it. Maybe I should send it to Nashville w/ my brother for a week. I will eventually get a Carr Rambler or something similiar to replace it, but right now I want something a little different.
I expect this amp to be my "Rock & Roll" amp. I probably won't use it at church. Some of the guys who's playing and tone influence me are: David Grissom, The Black Crowes, Duane Allman's fillmore east tone, Warren Haynes, Greg Martin, AC/DC, Audley Freed. That kind of stuff.
For the moment anyway, this amp will be fed a Melancon Pro Artist Telecaster (ANT I/B, VV/N), PRS SE Trem (soon to be Phat Cats), and a PRS McCarty (stock). Pedals of note include a Fulldrive 10th, AC & RC Boost, and others.
Here are some of the amps I'm looking at:
Dr. Z Route 66
Carr Hammerhead mk II
Reinhardt 18 (my current fav.)
Matchless Independence
These will probably all be run in Head/2x12 format.
Not looking to drop more than 2k on these.
Any other amps that I have missed? Does anyone have any experience with any of these things? Worst case scenario just blurt out the one that you would want :smack:
