Hi folks -
There's a guy in Athens who's been winding pickups for a little, and has started to make his stuff available for sale, instead of just being for him and his friends. In return for some broken/unused pickups I had (plus a little cash), he's going to wind a full set of pickups to spec to put into an Ibanez S470 husk I've put back together from ebay.
We're using some v7/v8 pups of mine as starting points, hardware wise, so: black hex screws. Past that, I was thinking asymmetric coils and either a ceramic 8 or alnico 8 magnet for the bridge. I have a lot of different takes on vintage pickups already, and felt like taking a different tack with this guitar.
Sooo... what would y'all suggest we do with the neck, keeping with the asymmetric coils and hex screws as a starting point? A5? We haven't decided on wind strength yet, and there will be a middle single coil with black hex screws going in there, as well.
I've suggested the guy start hanging out on here, as y'all are nice and open about sharing ideas and things to try. Hopefully, he takes me up on it - seemed a nice guy.
