Hi!
I have a Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster 2005 with the S1-switch and I'd like to get some new pickups that's better for the type of Music I play now. Bodywood: One-Piece Heavy Alder, neck: Maple, fretboard: Maple. 2-Point tremolo. I'm thinking about having a couple of pre-wired pickguards for easy swapping for various sounds and styles. I have been using Seymour Duncan for about 20 years and have tried a few. I mainly use the JB/59 or JB/jazz combinations but I've never replaced the pickups "Bill Lawrence" of my Fender Stratocaster.
What I'm after is a HSS configuration. I like the demo by Doug Rappoport of the Saturday Night Special and wonder if this is the right choice for me. What I'm looking for is this: I want a bridge humbucker for heavier Rock/Blues with the greatest Dynamics and articulation possible. I want the harmonics to really pop out of the guitar and the highs to be smooth, not harsh. I want the bottom to be clear and punchy and the highs violin like. I also would like it not to compress the sound too much. You can say a bit hotter than Vintage but a lot less output than modern. Then I want 2 versatile noiseless single coils "middle/neck that's able to get sounds close to both Steve Ray Vaughn and Yngwie Malmsteen. But I don't want it to be a single coil sized humbucker. Any suggestions of what to get?
