hellos guys i have a fender stratocaster american special with two suhr V60 pickups one in the neck position and the other in the middle position and i jus got a seymour duncan SSL-5 bridge pickup and i wonder if i have to do an special or diferent connection or can i follow the seymour Duncan diagram as it is? both suhr pickups has a black and a white cable as well as the seymour duncan :)

hope you guys can help me

have a nice weekend

You have to check the magnet orientation to be sure. If the tops of both pickups repell each other, you can follow the Duncan schematics.

Not necessarily, they could be the same magnetic polarity but the opposite wind direction. Checking attract/repel is a good start. Then connect them, if position 2 sounds out of phase, swap the leads on the Duncan.

how can i check the magnet orientation? i just know that the pickups are alnico V special, the neck pickups is 6.3K and the middle pickups is 6.3 K omhs RW/RP

Leave the neck and middle in place, then bring the Duncan toward the Suhr pickups, face to face. If they repel, they are the same magnetic polarity. If they attract, they are opposite.

(Regardless of the name) if you put the two that repel in the neck and bridge, then try both options for wiring the Duncan bridge (white to hot or black to hot). Which ever way sounds fuller is in phase, and that way you get all in phase and hum cancelling in 2/4.

I did this combing Duncan SSL-1s and a Rio Grande, it worked great.

thank for your reply i found that the suhr pickups magnet polarity face to the north and the magnet polarity of the seymour dunce single pickups face south however i did what to told i did put the seymour Duncan pickup facing the suhr neck pickup and it did attrack the pickup and the suhr middle pickup repel the seymour duncan pickup so base o that info should i follow the seymour duncan schematics or reviser the polarity of the pickup by putting the white cable on the pots and the black cable on the pickup selector?

Re: Suhr pickups with a seymour duncan is there any special connection???

According to a post on the gear page, Suhr and Duncan are in phase with each other but RWRP compared to each other. So following the Duncan diagram will work. You will only get hum cancelling in the neck/middle though.

Re: Suhr pickups with a seymour duncan is there any special connection???

If you want hum-cancelling in position 2, you will need to swap the V60 neck and middle pickups. So you have the neck p/u in middle position and vice-versa.

As explained above, you want to have the middle and bridge pickups with different magnetic-polarity so they will attracted each other when placed face to face.

Connect the white wires to the switch and black to ground. The Suhr pickups are made with the same electrical polarity as the Duncan pickups. You can use the Duncan wiring diagrams and not have any problem with phase.

Over the times the mag orientation changed back and forth but the color code on strat single coils is quite consistent even between the brands. So its highly probable that white is hot and black is ground.

even when the Suhr middle pickup is Reverse, can swap both pickups positions neck and middle position? in order to have hum cancelation?

Re: Suhr pickups with a seymour duncan is there any special connection???

Yes. Middle is reverse magnetic polarity and also reverse wound so its fuctionally the same as the neck pickup (its like a double negative!). There is no drawback to using the neck pickup as a middle and vice-versa. I hope that answers what you asked.

Of course you did answer my question Teleplayer!! right now im going to aisle with copper my strat and after that i will install the pick guard i try the pickups and see if how its sound
