Summertime (w/new D'Lite 22)

OK ... first real clip with my D'Lite 22. I did the vocals. Clean guitar is a G&L Legacy, overdriven guitar is a Washburn WI66 Idol Gold Top w/Lollar P90s. The amp was easy to work with on this clip.

In fact, I was detecting some noise while recording ... turned out to be my PC ... I'm going to have to move it later. :)

I liked it. I don't know much about jazz singing, but your vocals worked well. I'm definitely used to hearing a female vocalist on this though.

Good stuff. Nice tones too.

I dig the singing man, fantastico!

Superb tones you got out of the guitar and amp, it motivates me to practise more! :)

Thanks for sharing & inspiration.

wow i like your vocals! they are sexy! lol. very nice playing, though i heard one of the bends and it took a while before it got intonated. the rest sounded good though man. really like this song man.

Re: Summertime (w/new D'Lite 22)

The clipping noises were caused by some of the slap noise built into the standup bass part. All I can figure is that my compressor would catch one of those when there's not much else around ... and whammo.

I fixed the worst of these BUT I love that upright bass sound so I didn't mess with it too much. I eased off the reverb and mixed down the P90 side a little.

EDIT: But sometimes the more correct versions just don't have the feel ... so I'm going to put it back to the original ... it sounds moree natural even with the minor clipping noise.

Nice job. I like the tones, and your voice works for the song.

Built that amp yourself, huh? Be proud, it sounds real good.

Re: Summertime (w/new D'Lite 22)

A bit bright on the clean tones for my taste... but the distorted lead tone is sweet! Nice vocal mids and violin like swell to the notes!

Re: Summertime (w/new D'Lite 22)

Thanks everyone ... I missed dialing in the "OD Trimmer" pot on the preamp board while bringing it up the first time. When I dialed it in to the suggested starting point rather than the manufacturers "high noon" setting ... everything improved ... this is too much fun. :D

I remixed this a bit and I think I improved the mix and removed most of the clipping. The amps getting better and better ... but these are the original tracks. But I like the song overall. So, if anyone's interested ... another shot at the mix.
