Super D tone question

A few months ago, I had a luthier install a Super D in the bridge of my Epiphone Les Paul. All in all, I'm delighted by the pickup. It sounds absolutely amazing for hard rock and metal, does all the Def Leppard and G&R I want and then some. Splits super well. Kick-ass pickup.

However, using the bridge tone knob has very little impact on the overall brightness of the sound. As in, I have a very hard time telling the difference when it's dimed versus when it's at, say, 5. Is this normal?

That’s likely more a result of that specific potentiometer/capacitor.
chances are switching that out would give you something you hear a difference over the whole sweep of the knob.

If you have a logarithmic pot installed it's normal. Under 5 there is a very very little difference. The majority of tone change is concentrated in the range 10-7 circa

Something like this, or the pot isn't wired at all. Get a linear pot. (Think one of you said it backwards)

Thanks for the responses. I did not have this problem with the guitar when it had a Black Winter in the bridge, and haven't changed pots, so I'm guessing that there must be a wiring issue.
