Super Gool Guitar for Children's Charity

Didn't know if anyone had posted this, the concert took place over the weekend and the band and orchestra were incredible. It's staggering to think about how difficult it is to reproduce that recording live.

It was basically Cheap Trick backed up by the LA Symphony (dubbed the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra) doing the entire Sgt. Pepper's set just as it was recorded. Apparently, the arrangements were done by Sir George Martin, and Geoff Emorick (the original Beatles engineer) was at the sound controls!

There are some sound clips on the band's website, but they don't do it justice. I was lucky enough to get tickets and it was really quite moving. Some guest stars did vocals, some good some pretty average, but Robin Zander did the Beatles proud when he opened his mouth.

The GUITAR Rick Nielsen used was made for this concert and will be auctioned off (for mega-bucks no doubt) by the Beatles Hotel in Liverpool to benefit a children's charity that honnors John Lennon called the Imagine Appeal. A great concert and a cool guitar for a good cause.

Cool stuff and guitar.

Do you know if they have any plans to release the concert on CD and/or DVD? It's a good cause, a great band, and an overall cool idea - I'd buy a copy in a minute.

Cool guitar, too.

Only drawback I could see would be having the guitar up in a hotel for a year after the auction ended. That and all the signatures but whoever wins it will probably never play it anyway.
