Super Reverb vs Victorilux

Opinions? The Super Reverb is no small change by any mean feat, but in comparison to the Victorilux, which is double the price, how does it compare?

I know the physical differences of both (speakers, point to point vs PCB, etc) but how does it fare tone-wise?

Re: Super Reverb vs Victorilux

The Victorilux is Victoria's version of the Deluxe, right? If so, right off the bat, the Super is going to be louder, cleaner, and have bigger lows. The Deluxe is going to be creamy when cranked out and will compress more. The deluxe might sound bigger when recording, though. This is assuming your close-miking the Deluxe's 12" speaker and only one of the Super's 10's.

Re: Super Reverb vs Victorilux

I don't know anything about Victory Amps, but i own a '69 SF Super Reverb. Out of all the gear I have owned which has been a lot, it has been the most reliable and Dependalble Amp I have ever owned. The tone of this Amp is excellent, with A TS9 it gives amazing versatitlity. I will never sell this Amp.
From what I understand The primary difference between the older ones and the new ones is the newer ones the tube sockets are mounted on PC boards, the old ones are wired right to the chassis. How much of a difference is this in tone, I haven't heard much. The new ones sound real good too. IMO shop around for a SF Super and see what kind of price you can get. THis is a hard Amp to beat!!

I think that Victoria is usually EL84's right? That would be the main difference...the diff between 6L6 and EL84's. Vic makes a 6L6 version too, IIRC.
