SUPER STRAT HSH WIRING DIAGRAM WITH 2 STAG MAGS AND APS-1

Hi. i want to put together an HSH strat with 2 stag mag pups and an aps-1 stagger in the middle. standard 5 way switch. i would like to use 2 pots. 1 volume and one tone. both pots are push /pull switches. the vol pot in the down postion would be single coil mode, up would be humbucker mode. the tone pot down is mute but in the up position it would bridge always on. so i would get the stock 5 strat combos plus N&B and ALL 3 pus together, which is a great sound in the single coil mode. 7 sounds each in both humbucker and single coil modes. SO, what would be the best pot value to use, what value cap for the tone control? also should i use a RW/RP middle pickup or regular wind. THEN there is the stag mag issue itself. its my understanding, (or misunderstanding) that the s mag is wired differently than the other humbuckers. since the idea is to get a STRAT sound, i would want to use the north/upper/ non logo coil for the neck pickup in single coil since that is its position on a strat, not the logo coil. the bridge humbucker would use the south/lower/logo coil for the single coil mode. there is an HSH diagram on the seymour site that is close but it doesnt address the issues expressed above. Any help, input, suggestions, DIAGRAM, etc would be greatly appreciated. thanks david

Well, since the default wiring would call for traditional Strat-style (SSS), you simply reverse the site diagram's push/pull wiring so that down is split for the Stags.

As well, the middle should be RWRP.

I would use 500K pots but add a resistor to the switch that cuts it down to 250K when you split the Stags.

what coil gets split, ie which coil is active. my understanding is that its the logo coil on STOCK humbuckers?

Actually it's usually the "north" coil that gets split, at least for the neck. On SD pickups, with the Seymour Duncan logo right-side up, North is the top coil, South is the bottom. Black is North Hot, White is North Cold, Red is South Hot, Green is South Cold.

Usually, you split a humbucker by removing the South coil from the circuit, leaving the North. However, a North coil and a South coil are always RWRP (and so hum-cancelling) within the same brand of pickup, so to maintain noiseless operation, coil splits can be wired to take opposing coils from either pickup, either the "outside" or "inside" coils. The P-Rail pickups take advantage of this; the Rail coil is the South coil of the neck, but the North coil of the bridge, and vice-versa for the P-90 coils, so you can wire the controls to allow you to select only Rails (inside) or only P-90s (outside), and still get a hum-cancelling combination.

wow !! like i said its way over my head. i can follow a diagram. im just trying to use the s mag like it was designed. to split to a true single coil in the correct position and be a humbucker when it needs to with all correct phasing etc. any chance on getting a wiring diagram on this issue? thanks
