Super strat my opinions pros and cons

I own 2 superstrats that are neck thru, one sculpted neck heel bolt on(no plate, just the way I like).

Pros: good quality, easy go toguitar, working man's hard rock and metal guitar, relatively easy for companies to produce, good idea ergonomics.

Cons: too much of a good thing isn't a good thing, assumed to be the best ergonomic guitar which can't be objectively true except for on average, not much room for innovation of its the o of thing produced, every body is different so ergo it's for some people is different. 25.5 and 24.75 scale can pretty muchpreform just as well if you put a thicker gauge one 24.75. Has devolved traditionalist just like the Gibson Les paul and the fender original stratocaster(no offense just your guitar is yours mine is mine).

Sorry if this came off like a debate I'll buy more super strats, but I also play other guitars. My set-thru(sg joint) BC Rich Warlock has better ergonics, because I'm the weirdo who needs those ergonomics. I will admit prefer, ancestors is effect ed by string Guage depending on tuning
So a 9-46 or 10-46 would work better on standard E then a 9-42 which can be used a fender scale.

Sorry if this comes off as bashing purist or traditionalist, it's not my intent. My only intent is one thing works fir one group of people another guitar shape may work fir another. I'm not so filed on keeping vintage specs which, aybe great for some, but not for others. Also I never understood why people freak out over other people's guitars other than swapping pups.

Not like it belonged to some famous artist, just think different thinks work for different people.

I'm also in favor of improving the current super strats with neck thru joints, but how is the question? Design wise the only thing would be improving already existing strat contours in several different ways and tolerances, like a full 3d carved stratified will.

I like super strats, but take a moderate since to them, Austell heavily favor my BC Rich Warlock.

So, what I'm getting is that the Warlock shape fits you better? If so, that could make sense. I like how an X pattern fits on my leg while playing sitting. Standing doesn't seem to make as much difference.

Yes, that's exactly it. The X pattern fits extremely well for me, specially when sitting.
I also love super strats, but I don't think it's the only good guitar or only good ergonomics. I agree standing it's mainly scale length, number of frets, and neck shape. I have a Jackson soloist and it does good, but the portion of the neck near head stock is too thin sitting and great standing, but aligning a superstrat while sitting is mildly difficult.

People have different ergonomic needs, which is why I don't think we got it right the first time, everyone is different.

I'm actually considering blending the x countours into a superstrat shape and the superstrat contours it's self, but it will be lots of trial and error.

Each of us has a valid opinion of how a guitar suits us and what we find best for our playing. Voicing this adds to the forum as we can all see how others solve guitar issues and apply it to our own likes and dislikes.
Its only when people assume their own opinion is somehow a universal truth simply because they hold it, that the issues occur.

Re: Super strat my opinions pros and cons

I don't think there's a right or wrong. It's just another tool in the tool shed.
I think the 80's Superstrat is making a comeback. For the longest time the most versatile arsenal of guitars was to have a LP, Strat, Tele and ES335.
I think a lot of people have added a Superstrat or 80's type guitar into that list these days. They don't seem to be ashamed of having one now at their age. :lmao:
People just don't seem to be as die-hard dedicated to one brand or model anymore. Variety is the spice of life.

I have my Superstrats.

You made that point better than I did. I tried to. But it, as have come off wrong with my words, it was honestly rushed my part. I think of it as buying a guitar where will everyone has preferences, not medical ethics, which is why I'm like everyone will have different taste. Mine is mine yours is yours. It's a minor issue, but everyone has ideas about what they prefer.

It's a tool in the tool shed, exactly. Also different people have different ergonomics. I'll play super strats I love them. I'll play my Warlock. I love it more, but I'm not against the super strat, just because in general it got bumped down, may suit someone else better you know. But yeah I think I like the concept of getting more warlocks, getting a neck thru V or 2, a neck thru Star, and maybe a Virgo, maybe a Mocking bird, a different x shaped neck thru than a Warlock and a neck thru les paul.

I also want to I Improve current super strats, which an only even done with a 3 axis carve, which without a cnc requires crazy jigs, but might be worth it.

Re: Super strat my opinions pros and cons

I have all sorts of guitars. From a carvin neck-thru superstrat with a Dimarzio Evolution, to huge 335's with monstrously huge neck profiles, to strats with HSH and SSS, Teles, SG's, LP's, V's, a Red Special clone, Jag's Jazzmasters.
All sorts of scales, ergonomics, neck radii, profiles and pickups.

Its one thing I learned trying to be a more elite sportsperson - the true master doesn't rely on a certain type of conditions to be present for him/her to excel. They adapt their skill to any conditions.

Re: Super strat my opinions pros and cons

Well, maybe an X shape with some relief cut into the back.
Explorers and Dean Dime styles can be comfortable too.

Re: Super strat my opinions pros and cons

Remember, taste is highly personal. You like what you like 'cause you like it. Don't ever let anyone tell you different.
But it is good when you can explain why to others.

A better rephrasing of my point is personal so on-site fits all may nitalwats work.

That's technically true, then exception would be design flaw which is not always inherent Celt under poor quality control. But even so one shape, profile and scale makes it easier,,but j agree that it doesn't constitute end result.

Just people have prefferences so I think people are free to do what they ant with their guitars and buy the guitars that suit them from ultra vintage to ultra modern. I just don't like the freaking out over other people's stuff. If they damage it beyond repair, that a different story. But I do t get whyzome say it haste be a super strat only.

Re: Super strat my opinions pros and cons

What's the question, exactly?

As to heels and access, ESP neckplates and shaved heels & horns work best.
