Superlead players, I need advice.

I recently aquired a 71 Superlead and I'm looking for tricks on how to run it. This is the first time that I'm using a four holer NMV amp. Last night I tried a setup but was not satisfied with the result. I was kind of in a hurry.
This is what I have to work with: THD Hotplate, Morely wha, Keeley SD-1, Phase-90, DD-20, GE-10.
Can someone point me in the right direction with the channel jumping thing if needed. Y cord, or patch cable, pros and cons. Stuff like that. The sounds I like are Lynch, Eddie, etc.
Any insight will be appreciated.

Plug into the bright hot input then jumper from the bright cool input to the normal hot input...now your channels are jumpered...with out a master volume you'll not really be able to get it to sing at any kind of decent volume even with a Hot Plate...so you might want to invest in a killer overdrive pedal.

Re: Superlead players, I need advice.

I'd plug into your best OD pedal, then into Bright 1. With a small cable, go from Bright 2 into a reverb or delay unit, out to Normal 1, so you can mix in more bass and ambience.

Then go out of the head's speaker out to the Hotplate, to the cab. Dial it to taste.
Think of every way you can tweak it for maximum tone and gain, using the OD and Hotplate. That rig sounds best in a rehearsal space or a stage, so dialing it down to home levels can be a challenge.

Kinda a little unrelated so I apologize for kinda hijacking the thread but can jumpering be done with amps like the Matchless DC-30?

I know you can do it on Bassmans and Plexis, but I'm not sure about Matchless.
I don't know if they put those 2 channels in or out of phase. There's a phase switch on the back, but that may be for both simultaneously, to correct the speaker phase if you use it in stereo with an amp that's out of phase with it.

I think the same holds true for Blackface Fenders....you can switch between them with an A/B, but I'm not sure about connecting them with a Y. Anyone know?

i dont think you can with the matchless as i believe that the two channels are out of phase but ive been wrong before. using an a/b to switch channels works fine though

Re: Superlead players, I need advice.

Cool idea Gearjoneser. Delay 100% wet, then use the vol II for the wet\dry\a little more bass mix right?
I'm wondering though, my Hotplate is a 16 ohm model and once I plug my 2 16 ohm cabs in parallel which becomes a 8 ohm output on the amp, I can still use the dual speaker outs on the Hotplate? The impedance is equal or greater than on the Hotplate (in this case greater) so there should be no problem....

When I saw the pictures of the rig you bought, it looked like the seller was bridging his channels with his multiFX from his rack. It works fine, as long as you can set the input/mix/output properly. It's always nice to have a little bit of reverb on a Marshall too.

But....you have to know what you're getting yourself into with 4 hole 100W+ Marshalls.
They're EXTREMELY loud. Those are best used in a soundproofed rehearsal room with a stomping drummer, and bassist who's using an Ampeg fridge.

tell me about it! I've got a 95 reissue 100 watt Marshall 1959SLP into a Vintage 30 4X12 in my bedroom and it's louder than HELL! even with a powerbrake that spins like a top. LOL. time to get a 150 watt Weber MASS.

It's good to see you on the forum, Mr. Heavy Metal. The only time I talk to you is when I'm on the phone with Jolly and you're over there!

Great to see you HM!! Been a long time.

Back to the amp. Who do you not like? Could be a bright cap issue, could be speakers, tubes or bias, what are you looking for and what is the amp not doing? A lot of the RI benefit from a few tweaks to warm them up a bit.
