Suprise score!

A couple months ago I traded a bruno conqueror classical guitar I got on craigslist for $30 with a couple spare random pickups for a beat up 2x12 cab and a triple guitar stand. The speakers werent even bolted to the cab, and didn't have any labels on them. I finally looked up the speaker codes, and turns out one speaker is a '64 Oxford 12L6, and the other is a '67 Jensen M1-120. I know these came out of fender cabs/amps, but does anyone have any info on these speakers? Anyone know what they're worth?

Re: Suprise score!

I had two of those speakers in the 67 Bassman cabinet I bought. They are the old speakers nicknamed "Oxfarts", and for good reason . By some accounts, they aren't horrible , but they sure ain't Jensens. I yanked mine and sold them, and got a decent price on both, cause folks are looking for them to fill out their vintage correct collection on some of their old Fender Amps. I got about $150 for both, but they were in really nice condition, and not flabby from being worn out. You can kind of do a quack amateur check on your speaker by carefully busing down the middle of the cone with three index fingers on each side. if it pushes down really easy or hits bottom or scrapes, its more or less shot. if they are shot, that particular sp[eaker isnt worth too much for recone purposes, but still worth something.
The Jensen doesn't look like anything Ive seen, but I'm not to familiar with old Fender Jensen ceramic speakers. Alnicos are the most prized ones, but hard to find good used examples. Thank gawd I got most of the speakers I need. I'm tired of playing Russian Roulette buying used speakers on Ebay.

With a title like "Surprise score" I thought this HAD to be the payoff to the Astrozombie thread in the Sound Room where we're all being icemanned.

Re: Suprise score!

You would actually need 6 (or maybe more, how many sides does a circle have?). Then there's the question of how the bus fits in there with all those fingers...

Good point. I thought a circle only had one side but he does say "each", so that does imply more than one.

Man, inbreeding's a *****...
