Supro 1624T... the LZ amp?

Re: Supro 1624T... the LZ amp?

Never got the debate part.

That clip however is a bit useless...

Page didn't use the Supro with a Les Paul and didn't just close mic it either...

This would be the reason why the POD HD has a Supro amp sim with a 6x9 speaker cabinet. The Gibson 185 amp is cool sounding too, but not as cool as the Supro. Also if the amp sim is any indication of sound, I want a Park.

Yep, you're right. Page used a Tele, possibly through one of these, and with a 12" speaker of some description. The mic'ing is, and will very likely always remain a mystery. However, that being said, the Supro here seems to have a lot of the character of some of the LZ1 recordings, even without a MK II fuzz.

Here's one of the ongoing forum threads about the whole thing. Never decisive, but always something interesting:

Yeah, I read that, too. We will never know, and Page himself will be glad to remain totally cryptic about it.
The thread I posted is interesting to read, and it surprised me that there was some acrimony from time to time between the writers. Alvin Lee was a contributor at one point, saying that he introduced Page to the Supro early on. FWIW, I think that thread is like 5 or 10 years old at this point, with new posts added recently. Its kinda funny, but still a cool read if you have the time.
