Surfmaster Wiring

I'm coming up with a concept for a surf oriented Jazzmaster that I was commissioned to make (that's right, I'm a professional now). The problem is the guy that commisoned it doesn't now anything about what he wants. Other than aesthetics, all he knows is he wants the dark switch to hardwire it to both pickups series out of phase. I have little experience with Jazzmasters or surf, so could y'all run a few sets past me? A few other questions:

What pot values for the dark switch pots?

Should I put a cap in series with the neck pickup to preserve some bass in the out of phase position?

It's a darn shame that the first guitar I get payed to make is one I don't know jack about and the one genre I don't know jack about, but $1300 is $1300. Any recommendations will be appreciated.

Edit: I forgot to mention, he's also fine with mixing and matching Jazzmaster and Jaguar pickups.

Re: Surfmaster Wiring

Shouldn't need a cap or anything to preserve bass if you are hardwiring series with OOP. That's what series does for you.

Dark circuit is 1M vol, 50k tone

Re: Surfmaster Wiring

Thanks. What pickups do you recommend? I like the idea of mixing Jazzmaster and Jaguar pickups. It might provide a better out of phase tone.

Re: Surfmaster Wiring

Perhaps watch a few vids on typical JM and Jag guitars to get a feel on typical tones first....Andy at PGS does good vids and shows pretty much everything you can do on any guitar.
