Surprising pot values in PRS DGT

While investigating brightening up the neck pickup on my 2008 PRS David Grissom after switching to an open-back 2x12
I discovered they have a new coil tap MOD on the newer models...

So, while I was rewiring my guitar I checked the value of the components...
Holy Cr@p Batman! These pots in this guitar barely reach 400K! They are 425K

So I put some CTS pots in I had... a 565K for the neck and a 501K for the bridge.
What a world of difference... more so than the coil tap mod I would think... which sounds good also.
(a 2.2K resistor on the bridge tap and a 1.1K on he neck tap)

Anyway... I still flip my neck PU and lower the Bass side and raise the pole pieces.

But the 100 to 150K difference in the pots is substantial....

I hope someone can find this useful... It was quite the surprise to me.

Yes... I just happened to check them when everything was disconnected.

And of course I rechecked them when I was testing all the other pots.

I have since written the value on the outside of all my extra pots now.

Maybe they do this on purpose?... It would be interesting to find out... But, No one will ever know...

Short of asking David Grissom himself, and I'm not going to do that... Even as nice of a guy as he is!

Re: Surprising pot values in PRS DGT

150k makes a big difference. switching from 530k to a 430k pot can make a harsh top end sound a lot sweeter

He wanted the guitar to sound like a 60s 335 he had, so it's possible the values are intentional

Yes, I think you are right...

Well, at least for the neck pickup... I like the added highs.
I can always mellow out the bridge if needed...
