Hi,
After seeing a Les Paul I liked on eBay, I emailed the seller and asked him if the acoustic tone of the guitar tended more toward bright and resonant or dark and sustaining. He replied that the guitar was dark and warm toned, yet extremely resonant and sustaining.
My experience has been that all highly resonant guitars i’ve played (mostly SG, teles) have been extremely bright and lacked sustain. Is it possible for a guitar to be dark sounding yet highly resonant and sustaining?
It would seem to me that the more resonant a guitar is the less sustain it would have since the strings vibrations are bouncing off the body and neck of the guitar rather than being absorbed by them.
Any thoughts?
