swamp ash harder than mahogany?

Re: swamp ash harder than mahogany?

I don't know that swamp ash is brighter than mahogany...not always anyway.

Do you think alder or swamp ash is brighter?

Both of my Teles have the same bridge pickup...and the alder one is brighter than the swamp ash one. The alder one is heavier too! That says something...

I think baseball bats are made out of ash. Baseball bats are hard! Oak/Hickory/Ash are rather similar, and harder to work than other woods.

ash and swamp ash are quite different in terms of weight, density, etc.
btw, why don't they use maple for baseball bats?

I am pretty sure swamp ash is a little softer than mahagony due to its lighter tone of color, but I'm not really sure. I don't own a swamp ash guitar.
