Swamp ash / Mahogany

Does any of the tone masters hanging around the forum could give a little lecture on the tonal differences a swamp ash body make compared to mahogany body?

I am asking because I am playing a LP Studio mahogany and was wondering how different a LP Studio swamp ash would sound.

Re: Swamp ash / Mahogany

And while you are doing this could someone also explain the sound of mahogany compared to alder please ;)

Re: Swamp ash / Mahogany

i think that alder is more articulate and less midrangey than mahogany. Swamp ash sounds great for cleans and single coils, but nothing else comes to mind.

Re: Swamp ash / Mahogany

Swamp ash has more attack and less bass than mahogany. Swamp ash has more high mids, and mahogany has more low mids.
