Swap Magnet on a Custom 5,? Too Scooped for Me.....

Hi , just recently pair up a Jazz-N with a Custom 5 -B, the combo Is Great !!! Not unhappy w/it,
But I would love to have a little more Mids out of the Custon 5, If I do a Magnet swap, what would give me
that added Mid , a rough cast A4 or any other Combo of magnets ?????...Mind you is an SG gtr.....and if I rolled the tone off, I am
almost there, so just getting a little more akcnowledge to my arsenal, that"s all !!!!

Put an alnico 8 mag in that custom and it will do what you want. It will sound especially sweet in that sg. the custom8 sounds great no matter what your volume knob is set at. the A8 mag not only adds mids, but creamy lush mids at that. no weird honk or spike. one of my favorite bridge pickups. very versatile

A8 for high output, and UOA5 for moderate output and a lot of vintage A2 texture.

Bluesman335" I like the A2 texture in the neck pup, but I prefer a little more agresivness in the bridge pup....I have the two mag's
when I get inspired or snow in, I'll get my hands on it ....TKU !!!

The C8 (Custom or C5 with an A8) is one of the forum's most popular PU's. Warm, lots of muscle, firm low end, and sounds good clean or with distortion.

The arguably "best" mag combo for a SG is the A4neck/A8bridge w/a '59n/Custom. However, the JazzN will work great too.

Absolutely, the A8 mag is what you want. The Custom8 is just about as good as it gets in an SG bridge position.

Well 3 am in the morning east coast, just finish the swapping of Mags, A5 for Ceramic8 on the Custom5 bridge........- talking about OCD , Right?.....Hahahha!.....

we were all referring to the ALNICO 8 mag to go in that custom. NOT the Ceramic 8! They are completely Different mags and will give you different sounds. The Ceramic 8 will give you SH5 custom and NOT the custom 8 which requires the alnico 8. Both are good pickups but we were all recommending the alnico version for the sounds we described.

Yes was a Typo...is an A8 in it !!!!!....sounds awesome, perfect Combo !!!! Thank you All !!!!!!!
